Hoop off the ground

So I recently I took an aerial hoop class. It was super fun! It was my first ever class and when I signed up I noticed that it was for two hour *gulp*, but still it sounded like fun. So it turned out that there were only two of us in this class. By the way this was an all levels class and she was way better than me but it was fun to watch her. So the way that they run the class is you take turns and everyone watches the person whose turn it was. This meant that since there were only two of us we got a lot of turns. The first thing I learn is how to get up in the hoop. from the start they tell me I’m using the hoop that is 6ft off the ground. I am proud of myself that I was able to get up on the first try.  The way I was taught to get up was by first holding the hoop above my head a little wider than shoulder width. Then while still holding on you kick your feet up pulling your knees to your chest while you lean back so that you can hook your heals on the hoop close to where your face was. The n you push the hoop until its under your knees.  Then you flip your hands over and slide them up the hoop until you can use them to pull yourself up until you are sitting on the hoop. From there I was shown all sorts of poses which mostly involves dangling from different grips. It was a ton of fun but pretty fast my hands started turning red. They are not used to hanging on to thing for so long. Because there were only two of us and my turns always seemed to be longer than her’s I spent a lot of time on the hoop. Overall I had a fantastic time but my hands would still need to get used to it. They were very tender by the end of the class.  I am definitely going to try and do that again.
